Thirteen to a dream house.

By Claire | Filed in Claire

If you were building your own home, money was not an issue & you had the best builders in the World to create exactly what you have in mind..

What are 1 things you would want that would make that home perfect, for you?

Here are my 10 15 13 perfect dream home necessities.

1. A wrap around porch. A la old Southern style.

2. A room that is completely built in book shelves.

No bare wall space.

This room will house my millions of books.

I am a ‘re-reader.” Nuff said.

3. No neighbors!!

4. Room for a HUGE garden, or two, or four!

They shall look like this..

5. A great fireplace of some sort.

6. A fabulous attic for tons of easy storage, and just because.

7. A perfect spot for a big fabulous gorgeous old piano in which I can put neat things, and picture on top.

Like so.

8. A breakfast nook, with lots of windows, overlooking the backyard.

9.Great windows.

10.A fabulous bathroom between my bedroom & my closet .Just for me.No boys allowed.

11. BIG closets!

12. A window seat. Somewhere in the house, at least one.

13. An amazing kitchen. Large yet easy to navigate in size. Lots of storage. All the bells & whistles.

Ok. So, I’ve got 13. I started with 10 & then was like “Oooh…” but couldn’t make it to 15 with out this post taking a week to write.

So, you know, 13 is flexible.

These are all definitely things on my list for my ideal dream home. I doubt I will be checking them all off, with our first home, but maybe someday we will have a house with all of them, plus more. Maybe not. Who knows, but it is fun to dream, isn’t it?

Are any of the things on my list things you would pick?

Are any of them complete opposites?

Leave me a couple, off the top of your head in a comment. If you make your own list, please come back & let me know so I can read it too!! I LOVE hearing about other peoples personal business.. what can I say?

I am a list lover.

By Claire | Filed in Claire

I LOVE lists. I could make lists of what kind of lists I want to make into lists later, I like lists that much.

I had so much fun doing 10 Things to say to 10 People that I decided I want to make more lists.

Some bloggers I have stumbled across in the past have had awesome lists with pictures & thoughts on their blogs & I always think

“Oooh.. I oughta do that, How fun!”

So now I’m going to make lots of lists, to fill the writing void I’ve had lately with blogging.

If you love lists, join in & leave a link to your list at the end of each posts.

I can make lists of who I know that also love lists.

I hope some of you join in! I like seeing what other people like almost as much as I like lists!

After looking over the few photos that I got today I decided that my brilliantly light blue sky color eyed son is certain proof that yes, light eyes are more sensitive to the sun.

Add in a sunny day, no sunglasses & a camera..

Need I say more?

A exciting Monday.

By Claire | Filed in Adventures, Andy, Claire, Life

Andys First day of School!

Welp. I drove Andy to preschool this afternoon!!

He was ready. He got over his nerves when he met his teacher last Friday at orientation. Today he was ready.

He got dressed this morning & then waited until it was time. Once it was time he made sure to use the bathroom first, because “I don’t like using pottys not at home” ( me toooo!!!) and then got his shoes on, bag on, let me take some pictures & said lets go!

I’m not sure if I am more proud that he dislikes public restrooms or that he was so good & ready.

I parked in the small lot, left the car running & looked for the aide who said she would be at the door waiting. Of course, day one is a bit nuts so she was walking kids from the door to the room, so I stood at the front door with Andy, keeping an eye on the car 20 feet away, hugged Andy, said hello to the nice teachers aide he has in his classroom & he looked up at me, a bit serious faced & said goodbye.

That is one of the downsides of having two little ones. Some moms & dads were in the hall, taking pictures, hanging out. If I took Ryan inside he would never want to leave, so I said my goodbyes quickly & sprinted back to the car.

I mean seriously, I jogged.

Ryan & I are starting a new routine. Drop Andy at school & then we go for a walk. I am on a mission for a jogging stroller, as those of you on Facebook know (follow me on Facebook, don’t miss out on the fun & topics!) , but until then Ryan & I are walking the neighborhood in our current stroller which kinda sucks because the sidewalk is a bit bumpy & my long arms dislike the short stroller. (PS. Got me thinking..kinda crappy YOU have to pay to fix your own sidewalk, but then, if you park your car a little on the sidewalk, you get a ticket..sidewalk is public property, not your property, so why do YOU have to pay for it??)

I am determined to lose 20 pounds in the next 2 or 3 months. Andy can get learned while he is at school , and mama can get skinny. 20 pounds isn’t that hard, right?

I am telling myself “Claire, 20 pounds is like..nothing.. You are young & healthy & there is no reason for being lazy. Lose these 20 lbs or you’ll have to lose 50+ when you aren’t so young & healthy!”

So far that method is working better for me than “Damnit Claire, you fatass, go exercise!”

Gentle love, gentle love.

I was “underweight” prior to having children, which thankfully was cured by 2 pregnancies & a LOT of Milky Way bars. Now, I’ve got about 10 pounds per kid, all remaining on my ass or other unattractive places. It just isn’t working for me.The skinny me trapped inside this butt is pissed, and wants out!

Today Ryan & I walked for 40 minutes, but it was pretty hot out, so we headed home. I did 30 minutes of sweaty gross push up cheating cardio & 10 minutes to cool down on the elliptical which apparently works for more than just hanging clothes on.Who knew. (OK me, I knew. I swore when we bought it I would NOT use it for clothes but eh..what can I say! It ASKS for clothes!!!)

I’ll be headed to pick Andy up & see how his first day went. Hopefully this is the start of a great school year for him & a great ass year, for me! (literally!)

That is our school plan this year!

Did your kids start back to school this last week? How do they like their teachers, classes, etc? If they haven’t started yet, when do they?

Anyone else have a first timer this year? Did you cry?

I didn’t! I did cry a tiny bit at the orientation though….

Happy beginning of school year everyone!!!

Novica

By Claire | Filed in Product Review

My dad is a poet, so to say I grew up in the “art world” is an understatement. I often joke that I grew up in bookstores instead of playgrounds & attended food tasting sit down dinners instead of BBQs. It’s actually the truth, and because of it I’ve always had a thing for art, cultural artwork, unique gifts & what I like to refer to as all around “artsy fartsy stuff.”

When NOVICA contacted me to ask if I was interested in a review I was like “Um.. hello. I think I have just been waiting for you my WHOLE life!’

You see, NOVICA is in association with National Geographic, it is a site that has everything from sculptures, to jewelry, clothing, green gifts, and unique hand crafted pieces of every art form from all over the globe & are all around amazing items.

Sitting down to browse the NOVICA fair trade corporate gift selection I was basically in heaven. I spent hours browsing the site, as I am sure you will too.

One artist I was really drawn to. This piece in particular kept reeling me in.

Then I read the artist bio:

“My name is Luh Mas Sri Pertamiari and I was born on December 13, 1973. My village has been renowned as a woodcarving center in Bali for many years. We may be familiar because of the men carvers, however the fantastic thing is that almost 90 percent of the women know how to carve. From a young age, boys and girls are introduced to carving.

“When I was a child, together with my two brothers, we learned wood carving, painting and sanding.

“When I graduated from senior high school I worked in tourism, however, after I married Made Sanjaya he asked me to quit my job and take care of our children at home. I’m an active kind of woman, and totally stopping my activities to stay home was driving me crazy! For that reason I started to do some carvings at home, and opened a small workshop near my house for people to see and appreciate my carvings.”

This right here, is all the proof I need that stay at home moms, all over the World equally get bored & tired of doing nothing but taking care of kids, husbands & the house.

Am I right ladies??

I ultimately chose this ring because I have a thing for citrine, and I have been meaning to spoil myself with a cocktail ring, this Summer.

It showed up in a beautiful little box:

And I think it looks quite fabulous, if I do say so myself.

(I can’t take normal pictures of myself. Sorry.)

I think it is stunning. The gemstones are large & nicely cut. The ring is smooth, so while the petals are larger, it doesnt catch on hair or clothing like some large rings tend to. It is truly gorgeous & will be a treasured piece in my collection.

One of the coolest things is that my item came with a handwritten(and translated) postcard directly from the artist. That’s kinda cool.

An artist bio comes included with your items, which is pretty neat. I will be using NOVICA for holiday & birthday gifts for years to come.

There is nothing like unique gifts, I think, and to receive a gift handcrafted  from an artist complete with their information, about their location & to find out more about their culture all in one is pretty unique, and spectacular, if I do say so myself.

If you are looking for gifts, or starting holiday shopping early, or just want to buy yourself something awesome, check out NOVICA.

You can also follow them on Facebook, I do & they post some awesome links & information as well as being a great way to keep up on sales & good deals going on.

What do you see on the NOVICA site that you like?

One of my favorite blogs is WriteSpell.

Nicole used to write Pretty Pink Chandelier  and she has moved on to a new name, luckily, she still has the same great stuff.

I love her blog. It pops up in my Facebook feed with pretty pictures, or thoughts & it makes me feel grounded & appreciative of little things through out my day.

Read her blog. You will fall in love, too!

Today Nicole posted 10 things you would like to say to 10 different people.

I have so much I don’t say, and often too much that I do!

Here are mine:

1. You are the reason I believe in Karma.

2.I miss you.

3. I am so sorry.

4. Please do not EVER have children.

5. Yes. It was me who farted.

6.Get over yourself. You really aren’t that special, or fabulous, or really even nice. In fact, you are kind of a bitch.

7.I wish I felt like you were remotely proud of me.

8. You really should have never done that. Are you even ashamed of yourself? Do you regret it? Or do you think you are so untouchable & special that hurting others is ok? You lost every ounce of being “beautiful” when I realized how ugly & hateful you are inside.

9. No.

10. I wish I was better. I’m sorry I’m not.

Your turn.

By Claire | Filed in Laugh, Only Me, random

I love making my own little quips in my head for pictures, however I usually just share them with The Man.

I’ve recently been sharing them with the world via random “likes” on Facebook.

Today, the page “There is no I in team. But there are 3 U’s in Shut The Fuck Up” posted a picture asking what it is..

Beat my caption.

I dare you.

What happens when you don't take care of blue balls.

PS- Turns out it is actually a maggot.
